The Choice

The Choice
(By Max Lucado)

It's quiet.
It's early.
My coffee is hot.
The sky is still black.
The world is still asleep.
The day is coming.
In a few moments the day will arrive.
It will roar down the track with the rising of the sun.
The stillness of the dawn will be exchanged for the noise of the day.
The calm of solitude will be replaced by the pounding pace of the human race.
The refuge of the early morning will be invaded by decisions to be made and deadlines to be met.
For the next twelve hours I will be exposed to the day's demands.
It is now that I must make a choice.
Because of Calvary, I'm free to choose.
And so I choose.
I choose love.

I choose Love . . .
No occasion justifies hatred.
No injustice warrants bitterness.
I choose love.
Today I will love God and what God loves.

I choose Joy . . .
I will invite my God to be the God of circumstance.
I will refuse the temptation to be cynical . . . the tool of a lazy thinker.
I will refuse to see people as anything less than human beings, created by God.
I will refuse to see any problem as anything less than an opportunity to see God.
I choose Peace . . .
I will live forgiven.
I will forgive so that I may live.

I choose Patience . . .
I will overlook the inconveniences of the world.
Instead of cursing the one who takes my place, I'll invite him/her to do so.
Rather than complain that the wait is too long, I will thank God for a moment to pray.
Instead of clenching my fist at new assignments, I will face them with joy and courage.

I choose Kindness . . .
I will be kind to the poor, for they are alone.
Kind to the rich, for they are afraid.
And kind to the unkind, for such is how God treated me.

I choose Goodness . . .
I will go without a dollar before I take a dishonest one.
I will be overlooked before I boast.
I will confess before I accuse.
I choose goodness.

I choose Faithfulness . . .
Today I will keep my promises.
My debtors will not regret their trust.
My associates will not question my word.
My wife/husband will not question my love.
And my children will never fear that their father will not come home.

I choose Gentleness . . .
Nothing is won by force. I choose to be gentle.
If I raise my voice may it only be in praise.
If I clench my fist, may it only be in prayer.
If I make a demand,
may it only be of myself.

I choose Self-Control . . .
I am a spiritual being.
After this body is dead, my spirit will soar.
I refuse to let what will rot, rule the Eternal.
I choose self-control.
I will be drunk only by joy.
I will be impassioned only by my faith.
I will be influenced only by God.
I will be taught only by Christ.
I choose self-control.

Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control.
To these I commit my day.
If I succeed, I will give thanks.
If I fail, I will seek his grace.
And then, when this day is done, I will place my head on my pillow and rest.

"Love is patient and kind.
Love is not jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud.
Love is not rude, is not selfish, and does not become angry easily.
Love does not remember wrongs done against it.
Love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth.
Love patiently accepts all things.
It always trusts, always hopes, and always continues strong.
Love never ends."

Speech / Silence

Speech needs company; silence needs solitude

Speech wants to conquer others; silence helps conquer oneself

Speech demands respect, silence commands it

Speech is self -expression; silence is self-experience

Speech is mind bound, silence is soul bound

Speech asserts ego; silence effaces it

Speech dissipates ego; silence conserves it

Speech is human; silence is divine

Speech receives appreciation; silence receives adoration

Great works are inspired by speech but written in silence

Life is a flower; silence is its fragrance

We surround ourselves with noise, because we are uncomfortable with silence.

We fill our lives with distractions, because we are reluctant to confront.

El Computador | Men VS Women Joke

A Spanish teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.

"House" for instance, is feminine: "la casa."
"Pencil," however, is masculine: "el lapiz."

A student asked, "What gender is 'computer'?"

Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether "computer" should be a masculine or a feminine noun. Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.

The men's group decided that "computer" should definitely be of the feminine gender ("la computadora") because:
1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic.
2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else.
3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval; and
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

(THIS GETS BETTER!)
The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be masculine ("el computador") because:
1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on.
2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves.
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time, they ARE the problem; and
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.

The women won.

In America

 Purpose, Direction

Former Secretary of State and National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice once told graduates of the Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson that they have a responsibility to be "optimistic" in their lives.

"I first learned this lesson from hearing stories about my paternal grandfather," she said. "Grandfather Rice was a poor farmer's son in Eutaw, Alabama. One day, he decided to get book-learning. So he asked, in the language of the day, where a colored man could go to school.

"They said that a little Presbyterian school, Stillman College, was only about 50 miles away. So he saved up his cotton to pay for the first year's tuition. After the first year, he ran out of cotton and he needed a way to pay. My grandfather asked the school administrators how those other boys were staying in school, and he was told that they had what was called a scholarship.

"They said, 'If you want to be a Presbyterian minister, you could have a scholarship, too.' My grandfather said, 'That's just what I had in mind.'"

The moral of the story, she said: "In America, it is not about where you are coming from, but where you are going."

We are family: we stay together!

Sonnet 43 from a PC Geek point of view

How do I love PC ( Windows)? Let me count the ways.
I love PC to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of being and ideal grace.
I love PC to the level of every day’s
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I love PC freely, as men strive for right;
I love PC purely, as they turn from praise.
I love PC with the passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood’s faith.
I love PC with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints. I love PC with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose,
I shall but love PC better after death.

Joking with Windows, I am married into...
( Atari OS was my first girl friend, but Windows is my wife. A little sense of humor for PC lovers. I said PC because it rhymes better with Thee, but I wanted to point to Microsoft Windows.)

A computer geek should be loyal to one operating system just like a true man is married to one wife and one wife only.  Humor with some truth in it.

I admit using Google laptop ( a brother in Christ) and times to times Mac OS ( a sister in Christ)... Hope you are on the same page than my humor...

Below: in love with the operating system -not PC... We go through downs and ups in our relationship, but we stay together ( Vista was not good, nor currently Windows 8.1. Hopefully, the next season for us will be better: Windows 10, a new chapter in our relationship. We will renew our vows for each other.)

Joke about King Solomon and his wisdom

Two women came before wise King Solomon, dragging between them a young man in a three-piece suit.

"This young CPA agreed to marry my daughter," said the first one.

"No! He agreed to marry MY daughter," said the other.

And so they haggled before the King, until he demanded silence. "My sword! Bring me my biggest sword," said Solomon, "and we shall cut the young man in half. Each of you shall receive a half."

"Fine. Sounds good to me," said the first lady.

But the other woman said, "Oh Sire, do not spill innocent blood. Let this other woman's daughter marry him."

The wise king did not hesitate a moment. "Indeed, the accountant must marry the first lady's daughter," he proclaimed.

"But she was willing to hack him in two!" exclaimed the king's court.

"Precisely!" said wise King Solomon. "That shows she is the TRUE mother-in-law."
